You had a religious experience! Except I do know the overwhelm of which you speak. And the emotion. Shoot, I get it sometimes just listening to music on my way home from work! You are going to be a drooling mess when you go to see Justin Townes Earl. In a good way. We deserve to be free and young and full of feeling and passion and live wildly in the moment. I'm glad you could do it! You deserve to do it lots more! BTW, if you have never listened to their Gleam albums, they are 2 short EPs - you should. I love them. The second one has Murder in the City which is one of my favorite of their songs. Latte withdrawal should be an identified & recorded medical condition. I had it BAD. The solution was, of course, more lattes then I was fine. I am still not feeling back in the swing of things. It has been so unbearably hot (100) here this whole week, that everyone is cranky and hot and tired and lazy. Me included, but I've been dragging myself through heat AND art fair traffic to get to Vie to pay money to sweat. I am glad you had a good camping trip, soggy as it was. I am so sad for Kimberly and her brood I don't even know how to feel about it. They are in my thoughts and prayers. I miss you guys, I miss Seattle and I've already started looking at flights for end of Oct-ish. It will probably be a shorter visit, but I think that's probably good while the kids are in school. That's not so far away! xo
Ha ha! Totally thought of our friend in gold... maybe I won't be so quick to mock him now!
They opened with Murder in the City. One of D's favorites, too. After they played it, he turned to me and said "OK, where do they go from here?!" The answer of course was up and up and around and in and through and under. When you get a chance, youtube their a capella version of Down to the River to Pray. It was how they closed the show. I wasn't the only one crying.

I'll have to check about the end of Oct. It's a bit of a crazy time for us.

Let me know when/if there is a less crazy time in the late fall. I'm thinking probably a long weekend sort of visit.:)

Also...please tell Daniel that I have been grooving to Fitz & the Tantrums in some way every day since I left you guys. I've made a couple of converts, too. They have gotten me through some dull latte-withdrawal fraught afternoons at work and Kristi played 3 of their songs at our last couple of spin classes.

Please tell me they did their John Denver cover of Back Home Again. I'm getting weepy just watching that one on youtube. You know how I have that weird thing for ol' JD.
